Red Velvet Cake

This is a birthday cake that we made for our advisor Ms. Kolmer. This is a red velvet cake with a cream cheese frosting as the filling and covering the outside. She is a big fan of shoes, her favorite being cowboy boots, so we put a cowboy boot made of gum paste in the center. We piped red cream cheese frosting onto the cake using stencils we have as a guide. The cow boy boot is made of sugar gum paste and to color it we painted it with diluted gel food coloring.

Lacrosse Cake

We made this cake for our friend Cooper who is a big lacrosse fan so he wanted a lacrosse themed cake for his birthday. We designed this cake after his helmet. This cake was triple chocolate with chocolate fudge frosting as the filling. It is covered in white fondant and black and red fondant cut outs to make the helmet. On the side of the cake are crossing lacrosse sticks which we piped on with decorating icing.

Graduation Cake

We made this cake for our friend Liz for her graduation party. This is white cake with chocolate fudge frosting in the middle. We covered this cake in white fondant and then used different flower shaped cookie cutters to put green and blue flowers on it. To make the flower shaped fondant stick, we painted each back of the flower with egg whites. We were inspired to make this cake after looking at one of our favorite cake books called Cakes to Inspire and Desire.

Math Class Cake

This week in math class we were assigned to bring in some sort of food with an algebraic theme. Of course Ariana and i chose to bake a cake! This cake is moist white cake with chocolate fudge icing. We put bright green fondant on top of that and used bright pink icing to make the large graph on top as well as the ones on the sides. We also decorated the sides with smaller chocolate graphs and made buttercream swirls to add a little more decoration. The bottom border is also done with buttercream icing. Hope you enjoyed this cake!

Helen's Lacrosse Cake

We made this birthday cake for one of my lacrosse teammates. She said she wanted a lacrosse themed cake so we made two crossed lacrosse sticks on the top with decorative swirls. This cake is triple chocolate cake with fudge chocolate icing. We covered that with bright blue fondant and i rolled some green fondant into shapes of lacrosse sticks. All of the white is done with buttercream icing including the bottom border and the letters are cut from green fondant. We hope you like this cake!

Rowing Cake!

This cake was for me and my teammates for our end of the year crew party. This cake was bigger than most that we make, but it had to feed a lot of people. The cake is white cake and chocolate fudge filling, covered in blue fondant. The boat shell, riggers, and oars were made from gum paste. The gumpaste was pained emerald green and gold (the colors of Pocock Rowing Center) with food coloring. There is a lot of detail in this boat; seats, tracks, foot stretchers and riggers. The oars even have the design that the clubs real oars do. The Pocock club symbol is in each corner and was made from colored buttercream icing. The gold medals are made from caramelized sugar and the waves in the water are buttercream icing. Great job 2010 Novice Girls' Rowing!

Congratulations Clay!

We made this cake for one of our friends when he won ASB president! For this cake we incorporated our school colors (Blue and Green) and our school mascot, the puma. This cake was made with moist white cake and creamy chocolate icing. We covered that with bright green fondant and cut out a blue paw print. We also cut out little blue balloons for the sides with gold ribbons. The letters we cut from white fondant and we bordered the paw print and base with buttercream icing. Congrats Clay!
